Your King Comes to You
Mt. 21:1-11
Intro: Deep down within each of us, we desire a king
to rule over us. Children are always
asking, "Who's in charge?"
They want someone to lead them.
This is our desire.
Zech. 9:9-10 says--. When Jesus entered
1. OT says "The King will Come"
Gen. 3:15 (Sphinx; Rev. 5:5, the Lion)
Is. 9:6-7
Is. 40:3-5, "Make straight His paths"
2. NT says "The King has Come"
At Bethlehem--MT 2:1-2
Lk. 19:37-44, "You did not
recognize..."
Dan. 9:26; 69th week passed, now time for
"cut-off"
Israel had no defense for the murder; this
prophecy pointed directly to the Messiah
2.5 million present for the Passover; all
rejected Him (Jn. 18:40)
1 Sam. 8:7; sometimes God allows us to
experience the bitter taste of our decisions in order to demonstrate to us the
wisdom of His ways
1 Cor 15:22-26
3. Receive Your King
We may sing His hosannas and cast our palm branches
before Him with adoring emotions, and then as the challenge to Him grows sharp,
let Him be led out of another gate to a hill called Calvary (the same crowd,
one week later)
Or we may receive Him as the King of our lives and
dedicate ourselves to His cause
What was Jesus doing the day He entered Jerusalem?
What was the reaction?
What was the immediate result?
The King was crucified (we forget so
easily--the Exodus)
The King was declared to be the Son of God
with power (Rom. 1:4)
Fifty days later, the King was preached as
"both Lord and Christ" (Acts 2:36), and 3,000 were converted (Moses,
50 days out of Egypt and Law)
What will be the ultimate result? Jesus will come to rule over all people and
all things (Is. 2:4; Ps. 93:1-2; Rev. 11:15)
Genogram and breaking the cycle
Concl: This is the Christ who stands at the door and knocks. What will be our response to Him? "Enter my heart now, and reign forever more!"
